NY Comic Con is such a fun time. And the Jedi are about to show
you what stage combat is all about. And filmmaker Ethan
Jones will be your eyes, He rocks.
"A Short Film about Jedi." We met film maker Will Clegg
in Washington Square Park and he was intrigued with our little band
of saber wielding fan-boys and girls.
So he decided to make a short film about it. Below you will find
the short pieces of his doc that are now availalble. The entire
fim will be available soon.
TRAINING VIDEOS - Light Saber Fighting Forms We give a rundown of the
forms the New York Jedi teach people during classes and at our events.
"These are basic forms that will get anybody going on using
form to excercise with, and improve their own style." These
videos are not the definitive word on anything either.
When you make your own moves and strike styles, you need a basic
understanding of the sword. These will simply help people get going!"
- Enjoy.
The
Basics : As with all sword forms, it all begins with the basics! This
series is largely directed toward getting to know your blade.
Intro
Video - Here Flynn explains the
scope of the NY Jedi light saber forms and what the next four videos
cover. "Even though the sabers are touching when we land a
hit, we do not put alot of power behind our strikes. This is meant
to be touchsparring, and most of all fun! If you can't control your
hits, then you are being unsafe. This is STAGE COMBAT. It's about
pretending, looking great, and pulling off really amazing stunts!"
Basic
Hits, Form 1 - The three types of hits, all encompassed
in one form. The three types of hits are Rebounds, Follow-Throughs,
and Locks, directed at strike zones. These are the basics of all
the following forms you will find here. Quickly master these and
you're on your way to choreographing your first fight!
Form 2 - "The
8's" - The basic strikes set into a more elaborate
form, here you will see the main Saber Form that lays out the blue
print for the basic style.
Form 3 - "The 6's" - Again, using the basic
strike zones set forth in the 8's, the sixes introduce the fighter
to large rmovements that make a lightsaber fight look really cool!
Flynn said, "the movements should be larger and more exaggerated
in a wider shot, but close-ups catch smaller movements better."
Form
4 - "The 5's" - Our good friend Omar Holmes introduced
us this sword technique called "The Game," but we call it
the 5s. This sequence is especialy designed to help the fighter learn
to control the direction of the saber from the back of the hilt. This
also gives the duelist two things, better control and stronger strikes.

in the depths of the publishers basement!
There
are so many cool fan sites for film makers and a lot of them are
